I am curious if you had to be on a waiting list to start into the nursing program. If yes how long did you wait for?
I will submit my application in August (2003) and I will not be able to start until August 2005!!!!

My school has no waiting list, they upped the number of students from 32 to 64 2X a year. You can't apply until you have completed A&P II, and Micro needs to be completed by the beging of the second semester of Nursing. There are other pre reqs that need to be done by the end of the 1st year of Nursing, but if you have them completed before you apply, you get bonus points. You also get bonus points if you work in health care, voulenteer, and your NLN score.
It's amazing how many things you can do to improve your chances. I will apply in March 04, and will hopefully start in Fall 04!

Thanks! I am planning on moving to Denver when I'm done. I thought about doing it before I starting Nursing, but found that the schools were SOOOOO impacted! After reading your post, I'm glad i decided to stick out the heat for another 2 1/2 years, it'll go quick!
Good luck with your prog, i hope you get in sooner than expected!

I tried to get in to an ADN program only to find out that I could start the classes but there was a waiting list for clinicals until January 2006!
I decided to go for my BSN instead.

The cc's here go by different things but there is no waiting lists. If you don't get in one time, you reapply. Some are based on points, some gpa, and some are a mixture of both. One school is a first come first serve. All require that you have prereqs completed with a minimum of a C and most want the supporting classes completed before you are accepted. Here in NC the competition is fierce in nursing programs. I am hoping to get in this spring to a LPN and then bridge over. Otherwise I am looking at Spring 2005 before I even have a shot even though I have all but 2 supporting classes done and a 3.8 gpa. Good luck to everyone waiting! I find out Tuesday about the LPN!

Mine has a wait list sort of. They don't actually have a list, but they base entry on when you finished your prereqs and then they look next at when you first enrolled in classes at the school and finally at who applied to school first. So although there technically isn't a wait list. You still wait. It works out to basically a year wait from the time you complete your prereqs.
