To transfer credits or to not....

I am an ASN program with Arkansas State University. I have been taking pre-req and general ed classess for my BSN at the same time through several different colleges. I will not be getting my BSN through ASU, but with UAMS.

Should I go ahead and transfer the credits I don't really need for my ASN (Chem, Philosophy, Developmental Psych, ect.) to ASU so that I will have Junior status come time for registration or just not transfer them to ASU and wait til I go to UAMS? Does it make any difference? Will the classes affect my GPA at ASU (I made A's in them...)?

Thanks.

It is up to the school as to whether or not they will use the GPA from a previous school - I have been to one college that didn't and now am going to one that does, so you should check with admissions about that. As far as transferring, it is probably a personal choice, but I don't think it would hurt anything - as far as I know, you can transfer credits around as much as you want. I had transferred credits to a school I was going to for a different degree, and then when I decided to go to a different school for pre-nursing, I transferred credits from both previous colleges to that school so that I wouldn't have to take some of the pre-reqs. As far as I know, when you transfer credits, the original transcripts still stay at the school of origin, so if you transfer them again, you still have to go back to the original school. Good luck with your future endeavors!

As far as I know, you required to submit transcripts from all schools you've ever attended. They might accept your credits or not though.

Plus, if you need financial aid, I know you get more with a higher class standing. I was psyched to finally get my upper-classman standing!

That's cool - I'm learning things here too. :)
