Sigma Theta Tau

  1. I will be a senior next year, and my nursing school will take the top 10% of students for Sigma Theta Tau. Is this similar to how your school selects students for this? If you were accepted into this honor society, what GPA did you have? Thanks!

At our school we have Phi Thetta Kappa, and it is by invitation only and is based on a 3.5 GPA or above. They offer alot of scholarships so I hope to get an invitation!

Phi Theta Kappa is not nursing specific, but is a definite honor. We had to be in the top 10% of our class, but I don't know what the GPA cutoff was.

When I was in nursing school, they also chose the top 10% (or was is 20%...I can't really remember) of our class for Sigma Theta Tau. To calculate the GPA, they used only nursing courses or courses that were required as prereqs. I had a 4.0 but I think the bottom GPA was around 3.5 or so...it depends on high well your class does!

I'm in Sigma Theta Tau-- I had a 3.9 GPA. It cost me $70 to join. It hasn't been beneficial for me other than something else to pad my resume with.....
