For those of you who are doing or have done your preceptorship, did you find it to be a different experience than doing clinicals? Did you like it better? I start my preceptorship very soon and am really looking forward to getting in there and doing it day after day after day. I'm thinking this is where everything will finally start to come together. Am I right? How did you feel about it?

I start my preceptorship tomorrow , so I'll tell you then ! :clown:

(from what my classmates have told me, they loved it, they had less paper work, more time to focus on being in the nurse's roll, and they were so busy passing and learning new meds, the day went faster. They also liked not having to search for an instructor to get approval, and said it was really nice being on their own for the first time. I hope it's the same for my experience, and yours!)

I had such a great experience in my preceptorship. Last semester clinicals were so horrible, that I had decided I didn't want to be a nurse. This semester really brought my "spark" back. My preceptor was such an awesome nurse (and person!!) She really helped me hone my time mgmt & documentation skills, as well as bolstered my confidence.

Preceptorship really is a whole different ballgame so to speak. No more prep work, following tons of different nurses, rotating through different floors, etc.

I am so glad that I had this experience--I feel it really gave me a better understanding of nurses roles and the hospital setting more so than any of my other three semesters of clinicals combined.

Good luck--you'll love it!!

BTW--yes--it DOES all come together during your preceptorship!!
