I am going to be taking my pre entrance exam in August. I bought the review guide and have been working the practice tests in it. The English and Math portions are a breeze, but I am struggling with the Science. I have missed at least 10 each time I took the practice test. The school I am trying to get into had 170 applicants for 35 spots last year-very competitive. So, it is imperative that I not only pass the exam, but score very high. It has been a LONG time since I have been a student. So, any advice?

i took the test last year. i failed by 7points. :( but i will retake it this year. it has been a long time since i was in school. but i was so surprised to see all the people who couldnt hardly speak english taking the test it was not a postive experience.one person had been there 20 times to take the test. alot of people were talking too and the test giver was walking around saying shhhhh! but hope to pass but there are only 40 slots and over 500 apps! good luck. so i hear u loud n clear

ps the net book was no help 35$ for nothing

I took the NLN for Rn and used the study guide, it really helped me! I did poor on the math part but good on the rest. I passed with what i needed but am going to retake for higher score (means more bonus points to get into prog) The scores a composite, so there are going to be some questions on there regarding nursing that you have almost no way to study for. these are just question to measure how much people know, but they don't count for or against you.

My advice, is sit as far away from everyone so you don't get distracted and get lots of sleep and don't overthink the questions, go for your first thought!

Good Luck!

I brought a book for my pre-entrance exam as well. I mainly brushed up on my math, fractions, decimals, ratios, etc. because they were in need of major help! Read the questions carefully and with the multiple choice answers, eliminate the ones that you just know aren't right at all. I would have liked to have sat further away from the others but we were limited in seating but I do remember this one gal that I was facing (at an angle) and so destracting. She would sigh loudly and raise her hands above her head to stretch which I would see out the corner of my eye making me take my eyes off the computer. Plus she was done with each section before anyone else in the room so I have a feeling she kinda wanted everyone to know that she was done and what was taking us so long.

But you will do fine! Best of luck.

I am now studying for the RN pre entrance exam. My test date is Sep.20. For some reason, I have a hard time with the verbal ability. These aren't everyday used words. I'm sure you'll do good. Just pray and study. Good luck to you!

can someone tell me if the study guide is the best way to study?? any other suggestions?

It is great you guys are taking the test. I studied for the NET but not the NLN and the school I am appling to is for hte NLN. Can anyone tell me how bad the science sections are

i took the nln 2 years ago and used the nln study guide to my advantage. studied what i could and did very well on the test. alot of my actual test questions came straight from the nln study book. if you bought the book and still did bad on the test, then you didnt study the book very well. i now help teach pre nursing student in a nln practice course offered by the univeristy i went to. the study guide is just meant as a refresher only.

my suggestion, if you have never taken any college or math courses, i would do so before taking the RN NLN. happy valentines day everyone:redpinkhe
