My poor patient

The pt I had this evening is recoving from a total knee replacement (she had surgery yesterday). Tonight, on his way to the hospital to visit her, her husband was in a car accident & brought to our ER, where he died. It was such a sad night & I felt so helpless. I have tried & tried to go to sleep, but I keep thinking about this poor lady & her family. I thought I would come here & find something to take my mind off of it. I just feel so terrible for this family. I guess in nursing you never know how your evening will go. Thanks for listening. :)

Thats awful. You just never know with life. She was lucky that you were there for her. I know its hard, isn't it?

We have a lady in our LTCF recovering from a stroke, and her hubby was in a bad accident too. He didn't pass away though.

But I can only imagine the horrid feeling that comes from not being able to do anything...literally...
