No they do not evaluate our skills. We do have a lab but we don't do any practicing in it. We go to lab and watch videos about things such as how to read an EKG, or how to properly position a patient.

Wow, what a drag! You hear the experienced nurses sometimes complaining on other boards about some new nurses coming in with practically NO practical skills. I thought it was mostly the RN/BSN combo programs. Can you change schools? Heather

I am currently in the progress of looking into other schools. I have applied at 2 others in my area and should hear something about transferring in to their programs by June. I am so upset because this is really delaying me from relocating now and I am soooo ready to move.

When I was in ADN school, we didn't have to worry about having clinicals. We had those and were able to do everything we were learning. Our problem was trying to learn with the instructors changing the rules every week or twice a week. We never knew from one day to the next whether we were following the correct set of rules or not. However, our main problem was the teachers fighting and arguing like a set of children. They would go to lunch together and tell one teacher that they were going at one time, then slip out and go earlier so she could not go and all kinds of stuff like that. We got more than an education in nursing.
