Woo Hoo!! I finished my med/surg rotation today! (I still have the final on friday, but the clinical stuff is over!)
I got a great "evaluation" from my instructor!! It's pass/fail with a numbered system for evaluation: 0 - 5
I got a 4 = Exceed standards - consistently performs above expected level with minimal faculty guidance.
I had to brag a little!
I start my psych/mental health rotation on Monday.
I really enjoyed med/surg!! I was able to observe in the OR 3 times (really cool stuff) and I had "great patients" - meaning they had interesting dx and procedures. I think the worse part was having to put into writing what I was doing and why...darn care plans
Shelly-
congrats on completing med-surge!!! not to sound like a stick in the mud but psych isn't that bad really, it is really what you want to make of it. i just finished my psych rotation, the first few weeks were very interesting while i was really into "therapeutic communication" to fulfill care plan/processing recording requirements. but the past few weeks i kind of just blew off the clinical and didn't really make any great attempts to communicate therapeutically w/patients (i was not the only one!). anyways, our school is a little different b/c although we were in our psych clinical we had psych lecture and med-surge lecture every week. now that psych clinical is completed we still have psych lecture but now we have 7 weeks of med-surge clinical. anyways- congrats again and best of luck to you in the futre. go class of '04!!!
