I need a good website to find out uses and considerations for different IV fluids. My drug book doesn't list them, nor does my med surge book, can't find what I am looking for on a couple of drug sites I have looked at. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know of a website, but I had the same problem and purchased a pocket size IV Med Notes book. It has push rates, compatible solutions, basically everything you can't find in the drug books. It is put out by F.A. Davis Company, I got mine at Borders books for $23.95. I thought the price was ridiculous for such a small notebook, but it was more expensive at Barnes & Nobles. Good luck!!!

try checking out the information at these websites:
http://www.nursewise.com/courses/iv_hour.htm - this article by a nurse includes information on electrolytes and what is contained in the various iv solutions along with some information on calculating iv rates.
http://www.muw.edu/nursing/iv.htm - iv fluids, the different types and why you would use them. also includes information on blood transfusion in the second half of the document
Thanks, those are good websites.
