Just received word today that I've been accepted to nursing school in the fall. I'm excited and too shocked for words. I don't think it has hit me yet. This just-turned-50 year old is going to achieve her life-long dream!
NOW WHAT???:roll
Thanks so much everyone who posted back to me. I'm so excited. I got the 'official' letter yesterday in the mail. Now they will send me info on orientations, uniforms, books, etc. I still feel a bit funny about the age thing but it's what I have always wanted and now I can finally pursue my dream. Maybe my life knowledge/experience will help me out. At any rate, I'm ready. And good luck to all of you who are still waiting it out. Please keep in touch.
Cheers
Suzy,
Do you have any idea of what the age range in your class will be? You may be surprized at the the number of "nontraditional" students taking up nursing!
When I went for my interview about a month ago, there was a brief group meeting first. Of the 25 or so folks there, only two looked under 40! The presenter even made the comment that few of us "looked like we had just graduated from high school." At pre-NLN workshops and in my prereqs, the population at this school has been pretty evenly divided between "just out of high school-ers" and forty-somethings!
I'd wager you'll have plenty of company in your age range!

Great News, Suzy! Congratulations. I'm still waiting to hear (in constant prayer mode)! If I get in this fall, I'll be 40 when I graduate, and I'll actually feel that I've accomplished something really great.
