I might be moving!!

Hi all,

I'm currently enrolled in the nursing program at my community college. I've completed my first year, however, did not pass my second semester as I was 3 points below a C+ (the passing grade at my school). My mom is hoping to move at some point soon, nothing is set in stone as we haven't really found anywhere yet, but it's in the hopes/plans for the future. I have 2 more years to go before I get my ADN at my community college due to me not passing last semester.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what it's like to transfer from one nursing program to another. I'm sure it's difficult but just wondering if anyone has had any experience themselves or maybe heard stories?

Your prerequisites will likely transfer- but transferring the nursing part is not going to happen.

The reasons are many and complicated- but I do not know a single program that accepts nursing courses in transfer.

One of my classmates was able to transfer only one nursing course, Fundamentals of Nursing, and he transferred between two schools in the same state university system. Like MMJ said, nursing courses do not transfer. And in addition to that, almost all schools require that you be in good standing at your present school to be eligible for admission to the new program. You definitely should look into the details before making the move.

I think it is difficult because the classes have to be exactly lined up in order to transfer, for example if nursing 3 at one school includes maternity then nursing 3 at the receiving school has to as well. Also some schools offer one nursing class, while other schools break them into different classes, this again makes it hard. We had several nursing students transfer into my class over my 2 year program, even in the last semester.

Yeah, I was considering staying behind if she did move because I felt as though it wouldn't be a simple process, AT ALL. Thank you so much for verifying and I will do so! Thanks again!
