I survived my first semester of nursing school[banana] Go Me!!![/banana]
It was close and I won't lie I barely passed. I only had 2 points to spare but we have a saying C= RN
I have talked to some others and apparently we lost about 7 people once the grades were calculated. Since the beginning of the semester we have lost about 12 people so far. That sounds like a lot to me. How many have been dropped from your program?
Don't let us stress you out. I knew some of the ones that flunked out in my program after finals and I think it boiled down to lack of devotion more than anything. Nursing school is not something you are going to coast through. You get out of it what you put into it.
I agree. I've noticed that the main reason students had trouble is that they either didn't come to class or they just didn't take it seriously & didn't work at it. Too many were good or excellent students in high schoool & figured it would be the same in college & got a rude awakening. Now they needed to study & many don't know how.
Just being in class everytime goes a long way toward passing.

We started with 48, lost 6 before mid-semester and lost 6 more after finals. But they say we will once again have a full class of 48 as others are transfering in from other nursing programs.
I agree, it is what you put into it. Of that last 6, 4 were working almost full-time hours and trying to keep up. It's hard if you have to do it that way! I'm sorry some of them didnt make it, clinically the ones I knew where very strong and good with patients!
