I am getting ready to take my HESI exam monday and I am getting realyl nervous because we need to pass it in order to graduate. Has anyone had to take the test before and have any study tips. To me it is almost like the boards where you need to know almost everything. How do you study for that????

Thanks-xo

The way I studied for the Hesi exam both times (and we have to take it again in a couple of weeks) was like studying for the final exams and I used NCLEX review type questions from books. To me, these tests were far easier than any exam that we have taken at school. :) Thank goodness!! Have you been told that this is a good indicator of whether or not you will do good on the boards? Our instructors have told us that several times and I hope they are right!!! :) Hesi also has a site were you can practice case scenarios-but that was only offered after the 2nd test. You might ask an instructor if the students have free access to the site.

Good Luck and let us know how you do!!

I agree. We have to take it after each semester, twice in some & that is how I studied.I am sure the semester ones that are just over one area would not be as difficult as one over everything. I also used NCLEX books & so far its worked. Good Luck to you.

Be sure to go over all the little NCLEX question "tips." I got a lot of HESI questions right just because I knew the little trick they were trying to play, not the actual information. For example, If they give you a scenerio and ask you what you would do first, always pick the answer that involves assessment, since assessment is always first. Also, the answer is almost never "call the doctor." I think the HESI and NCLEX play mind games, it's irritating...but don't even get me started on that. :chuckle

Those are great tips! Also, remember your ABCs! There's a lot of questions regarding priority nursing care, which should you do first .... just remember ABCs and you'll get those questions right.

We don't take HESI, we take ERI. Which I'm told is similar. We have 3 chances to pass the ERI RN Assessment. We have to get a 65. First time I took it I got a 60. The instructors told us it's common not to pass it on your first try. Only a few students passed it with a 65. I take it the second time in a couple weeks. I'm so stressed out about it, I have to pass it this time!

Good luck to you on Mon.!! Let us know how it goes!!
