I just started my last clinical rotation in my senior year a few weeks ago. I had my first performance evaluation today. 3 of the 4 nurses told me how well I am doing. One Nurse, who has had absolutly nothing nice to say to or about me since I started this BSN program 1 1/2 years ago quite frankly tore me apart in front of my regular lab instructor and my peer group - in spite of the fact that my whole evaluation behavior was on video tape and shows how well I performed. Now the "tape" is gone, and I don't know where to turn next. Any suggestions?

did you need all of them to agree on your eval?

what were the points that were brought up, how much weight do they hold

what was the response of the other instructors and your class

what tape was lost and in what capacity do you need it

don't over react this may be a temptest in a teapot

Agree with above. Just assume everything is above board. If the tape is gone no one can prove you did poorly either.

Update - just returned from a meeting with my teachers. It seems that it is a personal problem with the one teacher and me. They know what they saw so the tape being "accidently" erased by my problem teacher is no longer an issue. I passed the excersise as the critique was a majority rule, and I was told not to loose sleep over the issue - but to watch my back around this teacher because she really kicked my ass for no good reason - and the other teachers were going to talk to her about the issue at tommorow as she refused to be at the meeting with me present. I was told that "this is the first time she has ever been so enthused in living memory - so I must have done something else to set her off as my clinical performance was sound". So - life goes on - and I will try to keep a low profile around this teacher from now on.

Sounds like this teacher is going to be in some deep doo-doo with her peers. It's not good when an instructor looses their cool in front of witnesses over what you are being told is a personal issue with her. It's very unprofessional of her and it is probably going to result in her either loosing her job or her teaching contract not being renewed. It's just too bad that you had to endure some of her crap. It's a good thing you have other instructors who aren't afraid to stand up to her with their boss.
