Has anyone failed out of nursing school but got accepted in another program?

Hi, I think I'm in jeopardy of failling PEDS/OB clinical. I really want to be a nurse but afraid that I won't be accepted after they see that I failed out. What sucks most is that Im a SENIOR! I just want any feedback from people that failed out from a program (BSN) and got accepted into another program possibly another BSN program. My grades in previous semesters were decent, all B's and one A. This semester is brutal, so if I fail I would like to go somewhere else and not even repeat the class here..ANy support is appreciated. I'm so stressed out that I can't even cry...

Hi ppl..I'm the original poster of this thread and I got into another program. I'm going to Texas A&M corpus christi in the fall and I'm scheduled to take two exams at the end of the month to test out of 1st and 2nd semester. I'm studying alot but will answer any questions if ur in a similar situation, just stay positive and if nursing is your passion you will acheive it. To the poster asking about GPA, when I transferred for some reason my F wasn't included in the new gpa, only the W, so I still had a 3.4 GPA..hope that helps somewhat.

I've decided to put in my :twocents: I have been in your shoes, and I have felt like the world was totally coming to an end. A year ago I was in a BSN program, senior I semester (one semester before graduation) and I failed Pediatrics by one or two points. I was dismissed from the program in May yet by the next August I was in another BSN program. It just took perseverance. It was not easy and you will hear many "No!" 's before you hear a "Yes!". You will feel angry, sad, doubtful, excited, all the emotions in one. But the thing to remember is to KEEP GOING! TAKE THE OPEN DOOR! IF YOU CAN'T FIND A WAY, YOU MAKE A WAY! Thanks for your info. In the new program, did you have to start over? Are they taking any of your previous nursing classes? What did the nursing school say that you are going to?

My school gave me credit for the 1st and 2nd semester after I passed a challenge exam. So I start 3rd semester this fall and will be done next May. I was honest with them about my situation and they sympathized with me. Thank God, their are still some people that have compassion and understanding. :redbeathe

I already have a BA so now I am looking for an acelerated program so I can finish sooner. I have applied to one and they are evaluating my previous nursing classes. I have prayed about it, but am still so nervous. If I get in, the program starts in Jan. Do you have any additional advice?

OMG...I'm sorry to hear that. You're doing the best thing by praying (I did alot of that too) and keep positive. I think with you being so close to finishing, you should have no problems getting in and your classes to transfer. Good luck!

One more question. When you talked to people at the schools that you applied to, was there any specific person that you talked to about your situation, maybe recruiter, nursing advisor, director of nursing etc.??

I want to get an idea of who exactly I should be trying to speak with about my situation.

I failed RNprogram at a university, MentalHealth410, Patho320, & His. I passed 1st semester RNschool w/a 3.0gpa (fundamentals:B+, healthassessment:B-, OrganicChem:C, AbPsych:A). I want to apply to LPNprograms, but I don't know how to go about doing it. If I call & ask them if I can still apply they'll say, "no the deadline has passed, u need x classes before entering the program, program is full." I have looked at their registration sheet & there are spots open. What do I do? Should I email the Director of the Program at these schools? What do I say to them? What frightens me is when a former instructor of mine said, "I've never heard of nursing students who leave our program go onto other nursing programs." ...I have no idea why though...she never said.

Start applying to programs for the spring Jan. 2010. Also look into other BSN programs especially if that is were you started out. Since it is already August, you may not be able to get in for Fall 09. Continue to apply, don't give up...
