Hi everyone - I am in need of some advice. I went last week for my first interview for a graduate nurse position. I thought everything went well. I answered all the questions honestly and provided a solid resume and references. The hospital I applied to is activly recruiting grad nurses - offering tuition forgiveness, a new stethescope, and even an ipod for new grads. These incentives were presented at a banquete dinner they provided at a local resort for our graduating class. However; today I received a letter letting me know that I will NOT be called in for a second interview - and that there is no position available for me and that my application is now considered inactive. Am I going to need to sell my home and move to find a job as a grad nurse? Whatever happened to the supposed nursing shortage? What should I be doing now that I have no prospects of local employment? Please help!

If they're being that generous to new grads, it may just be that they had a ton of applicants. Hard to speculate though.... I'm sorry you're having difficulty!

Don't give up--it was just ONE interview. Maybe look back over your resume and read up a bit on interview strategies. It will work out!
