Hi everyone,
I did my first injection tonight! It was an IM flu shot. Everything went fine other than the few drops of blood when I withdrew the needle.
Anyway, it was a pretty good night. :) I pass my first meds tomorrow. I'm almost feeling like a real student nurse!

Yeah Krista! I gave myself a shot in lab and then gave a patient a shot my second day of clinical. It was nerve racking with my instructor standing there watching me. But I did it.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes it can be quite nervwracking, but once you get through the first one or two they get to be easier and then you start liking to do it. I just went through a OB and Psych and only game one IM injection during OB. I start med surg after christmas break so It will be like starting over again!!!! But it is just like riding a bike:)

Thanks for all the votes of confidence, everyone. :)
I also want to mention that I didn't get the least bit woozy. You all might remember my fear of needles post from earlier this quarter. It was a totally different feeling *giving* it than receiving it. I kept waiting for "that" feeling to come over me -- the one I get when I know I'm going to pass out, but it never came. I was pleasantly surprised! :)

LOL! Glad to know you have started to conquer that "passing out" feeling :) You would look kinda silly working as a nurse while wearing a football helmet to protect your head from the falls :)
