Buying books online?

I'm starting nursing school next week!! I need to see if I can buy some of the millions of books I need online. I've found in the past that buying online is much cheaper than buying from the campus bookstore. Any suggestions for websites with speedy deliveries? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I was able to get most of my books from Overstock.com. They were cheap (as far as textbooks go), and they arrived in about a week. Good luck with school!

Hi Crystal,

I always bought my textbooks online. Check out http://bigwords.com/. Type in the name of the book or the ISBN and it will give you a list of the different online sellers and which ones are the cheapest, shipping rates, etc.

Check out http://www.ecampus.com/ too. I bought a lot of my textbooks on there and they were pretty reasonable.

I purchased almost all of my 19+ books from Amazon.com. I received all my books QUICKLY (about 5 business days). Plus, expedited shipping (e.g., 2-day) is available.

I purchase what I can online. Usually I save a lot of money doing it this way.

I agree. Amazon is definitely good too. Just make sure you check out the seller's rating and feedback.

Yeah, I just bought my A&P II book online and saved about $28 in doing so. I got it off http://www.half.com . Which is a subsituate of eBay I guess. The seller rating on the guy I bought it off of was 100% and he had 500+ ratings, so I hope I can trust that.. ;)

I'd much rather just go into a bookstore and buy the book straight off the counter because you know what you're buying and you can trust yourself. But buying online can be much cheaper. This next semester I'll probably end up going half and half.

I always use www.half.com. Just make sure whoever you buy from has close to 100% positive ratings. I have bought many books from here and never had a problem. I have also sold back a lot of books here including a ton that the school bookstore wouldn't buy back.

i use amazon.com and love them.. :)

I use Amazon & ecampus.com :)

I bought several through Amazon. They are always very quick! I receive things within 2-3 days! I also ordered a few from the actual publisher's (of the text book) bacause our book store did not have them in stock yet (and I was very anxious to get ALL my books before my first day of classes, even though we don't need them yet!:wink2: ) Now I have a Huge stack of books--I love looking through them all!

I have been painstakingly buying my books on ebay, half, and amazon marketplace over the past month. I haven't saved as much as I'd have liked since all my books are quite new and the demand is much higher than the supply. I've laughed at some of the auctions I've watched where books have gone for $1 less than list price (when you add in shipping). Yesterday I discovered that Overstock had an 8% off coupon, and they also had a few of the books I still needed and the coupon made it the best price available, better or the same as I would have gotten if I had bid on ebay. So I just bought them there. I also noticed that they now have many of the same books I've been slowly buying for about the same price I paid via half/ebay, if you take the 8% off. I may have done better to have purchased everything at Overstock with the coupon. It certainly would have saved me a lot of time.

Today that coupon has expired, but there's a better one: 10% for new customers, and $15 off $125, etc. My recommendation is to do a quick ebay/half/amazon marketplace search, then see what the Overstock price is. Next time I will definitely search for Overstock coupons before I do anything else! Good luck!

Click on the link and it will open Overstock with the coupon activated.
