Where to apply in Orange County, CA?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi! I am a male registered nurse, with my associate's degree in Nursing and currently am completing classes online to complete my BSN.

I moved to Orange County, CA a few months ago, and finally was able to take my NCLEX and officially obtain my license last week.

I am looking to get some experience working as a RN in a hospital setting as soon as I possibly can. Since I am relatively new to the area, I don't know a ton about which hospitals in my area will hire a new grad ADN (even though I am in classes to complete my BSN), and which hospitals will not.

If you are familiar with the area, can you guys advise me as to which hospitals will be my best bet in terms of getting hired?

Thanks so much!

I would advise trying some of the smaller, community hospitals. They may hire a few new grads, although they don't have new grad programs.

It might be worth it to browse the California section of the site, too.

I'm not aware of any hospitals hiring ADNs, new grad or otherwise, I'm sorry to say. You will probably have to apply to some LTC facilities because every hospital system in OC hires BSNs. Did you research this before moving here?

Not true, although it may be for the larger hospitals or more competitive specialties. I'm an ADN and work in an Orange County hospital. I wasn't a new grad when I moved here, but I've seen new grad ADNs come through on occasion.

I did research before moving which is why I decided to get a few years of experience first. It's definitely a tighter market than the one I started out in.
