When did you decide what you wanted to do in nursing?

At what time in your nursing school did you decide what you were going to do with your license? Was it going to clinicals that helped you along and showed you what you liked and what you were good at? I am only 1 month into school, and already thinking about what I will do when I get out... thanks!

I finally decided about 10 years after I started!

I had a professor in nursing school who was an FNP. Her assessment skills were stellar and she was smart as a whip. Also very pro-nurse and outspoken. When I saw her in action I thought, man, that's what I want to be.

I took a li'l of that and combined it with my own dreams to make a path. It's what I kept coming back to, that's how I knew it was right.

Actually I made my decision before I went to Nursing School. My family had such a poor cardiac hx that I wanted to be a Cardiac Nurse, which evolved to ER, Occ Health, ER, Cardiac Cath lab, Occ Health, Hospital Medical floor, and now back to Cardiac. Hopefully, this is where I will retire.
