How would you deal with someone you observed working outside of their scope of practice?

It would depend on the state and the nurse practice act. Some states make reporting certain things mandatory. I think it would also depend on the facts of the situation. If reporting was not mandatory, my first step would be to tell nurse that she may be practicing beyond her scope. If it continued, and it was putting patients in danger, I would tell the charge nurse or nurse manager.
