Vp shunt removal

I have a question. Are there any nurses on here that work in the neuro unit? I know someone who has increased intracranial hypertension. A vp shunt was placed this past November. The shunt isn't working and it had been decided to have it removed this coming week. I'm just curious as to what recovery is like? Is it a fairly "easy" surgery? How long is the typical hospital stay?

Thank you!
