Help! I need some suggestions for which theoretical framework to use on my thesis. My thesis is looking at the relationship between glucose levels and sternal wound infection rates in post-op open-heart patients. It doesn't have to be a nursing theory...just any theoretical framework. Thanks

Is there a theory that is personally compatible and useful to you in your practice? I'd start with analyzing that one as a framework. A theory that I might use may not be practical for everyone. Kind of like trying to cram a size 8 foot into a size 5 shoe. Interesting study, do you have a hypothesis?

Hmmm. Tough question. There are probably a bunch of frameworks you could use, it's just a matter of finding the right one.
Let me do some review of some theories and get back to you.
Would a systems theory work? Gestalt theory is a non-nursing systems theory. B. Neuman systems model is a nursing offspring of Gestalt.

what about good "old" Orem? or Roper?
These 2 ladies are always good to get started with papers.
Their daily activities sum it up quite nicely. Then you can always go "deeper"
Good luck! Renee
I think Neuman might be a good suggestion.
