Theory/Theoretical Framework

I am trying to find a theory that most relates to my PICOT question. My PICOT question is about early mobility in the critical care setting. So far, I have narrowed down the theories i think relate most:

Roy's Adaptation Model

Jean Watson Nursing Theory

Roper Model of Living

Hendersons Need Theory

Does anyone one with more insight have any suggestions as to which theory would be most applicable?

Why don't you tell us what you think are the pros and cons of each first.

What is your actual question? What are the concepts in that question? The answers to such questions will determine which theory is most applicable. If you question directly relates to one of the Henderson's needs ... or relates to moving from dependence to independence ... or relates to doing something for the patient that they would do for themselves if they could ... the Henderson is probably the way to go. But if you question relates to adaptation, the Roy would be the one. etc.

Focus on the essence of your question ... and the concepts/constructs related to that question. That will lead you to "best" theory to use. Perhaps re-frame & re-state your question multiple times, from the perspective of each of the theories -- and see which resulting statement of your question best represents the question you really want to ask.
