HI!

Thanks to everyone posted to my drug question before. Well, the NCLEX RN test is TUESDAY, and now I am going through all the questions on the materials I paid money for and feel like I should have done way before. So now I am reviewing and getting nervous. Any advice? Have saunder's disk, nclex2000 software, lippincott's disk. ANY ADVICE so appreciated! Thanks!!

T,

Things will go well. NCLEX nationally has a pass rate of about 85%- so you have good odds to begin with. You are doing the right thing to do lots and lots of review questions. The advice you don't need because I am sure you know is: be prepared, know where the test site is- and how long it will take you to get there. Try to sleep well the night before-make sure you pack everything you need (Identification, ATT) and put it in the car the night before- that way you can't forget that sort of thing.

When taking the test, take it one question at a time. Don't panic if you get some similar questions. I passed with 75 and still had two almost identical questions (that threw me)...Also, do not panic if the machine keeps going after 75 questions. Just take a break, get a soda (or whatever) and come back and continue answering questions. If you find yourself in a panic eek.gif , look away from the computer (but not at anyone else) and collect yourself. I was cool, calm and collected before and during my exam, it was after it that I fell apart- so I also offer this advice. NCLEX cuts off the computer when you have successfully answered about 50% of the questions correctly. When was the last time you got a 50% on an exam??? You probably will feel a little funny, so don't worry, just do the best you can. Good Luck.

Hi T,

I found out yesterday I had passed my NCLEX RN. I had 205 questions which was very strange to me. Most people I know had 75 questions (one failed), one person had 265 (passed) and the rest had between 80-100 questions. So my 205 was very scary to me. I felt like I was going to vomit before during and after the test. I missed my exit on the way home. In the end you answer only 50% correct which makes anyone think they failed. I felt like I was guessing constantly. When my computer didn't shut off at 75, the next several questions were impossible for me to concentrate on (they should have a mandatory break after the computer moves on to 76). The wait for my license was awful. After the mailman didn't deliver it on day ten, I broke down and called my state board of nursing and expected the woman to get irritated. She was very nice and gave me my results.

I had med questions (my fiance had only one....he took 75 questions and passed). I had one calculation and I guessed on it. There was no way I could calm down to set it up even though I can do them otherwise. I had questions on Coumadin, Potassium, Vitamin K, and insulin. The biggest throw to me was all of the prioritizing questions. "who's room do you go into first, who do you call back first, who needs immediate follow-up.' I had three questions on delegating (One with an LPN, 2 with an NA). It seems I had many cast and traction type questions and I had many Psych questions (Bi Polar and Schizophrenia). I had Addison's (a given?!!!!!) I really didn't have lab value questions where you would need to know the correct value. I was ready for them though.

Anyways, stay calm. It is really not as bad as we think. It sounds like you are very prepared. I used the Saunder's manual and disc. Good Luck.

Erica
