Student with plantar faciatis. Advice ?

So, I am super excited about starting an accelerated BSN in two weeks. But my right heel is killing me. Went for a vigorous walk in soft sand on the beach to work my legs today, and now can't walk on the tile floor without cushy flip-flops. My tri-athlete husband says it's plantar fasiciatis. He had the same thing last year. In addition to special insoles and Motrin, any advice? Thank you.

Ouch. I've had that before, and it's no fun. The good thing is that you have two weeks to rest and recover, and you're probably not going to jump into clinical your first week anyway. I've heard that massaging the bottom of the foot using something round that you can roll back and forth- like a can of tennis balls, can be helpful.

That and ice. I've had it three times- it lasts months for me and it completely sucks. The good news is that after 15-20 steps it eases off, but those first few steps REALLY hurt. You get used to it.

I tried something weird to keep my right heel up off my bed at night. It was a funny little pillow that was called a 'dog bone' pillow. It was about 12 inches long and shaped just like a dog bone.

Kept my heel up and I could walk when I got out of bed. Sometime later, I gave it to my sister for same problem and it worked for her.
