Hello everyone!

I just recently applied for sheriff RN 1 position and took the written exam. Can someone tell me what to expect during the application process..how long will I know the exam results? Any tips on how to get ready for interview? I know there is an old thread similar to this thread..any updates? What qualities are they looking for an RN candidate? Skill wise..background..healthwise? For those RN's who has been working at correctional facility, can you give us a glimpse of how is it working inside the jail? Pleaseeee pleaseee I need all the help/tips/ideas that anyone can share. Thank you all for your time.

What is that?

It says in the post it's a nurse at a correctional facility.

I know somebody who does. She likes it. It's a lot of mental health nursing.

Hi Nursegirl. How was the hiring process?

Hello Tongie. The hiring process will differ. Is this a county, state or federal job?

Try to relax, correctional jobs usually go begging, because it can be a tough gig. You will be working with inmates that will do ANYTHING to be sent out. It will be YOUR call to know if their complaint is legitimate.

Please see the Correctional Nursing category under "specialties".

Best of luck, Never let them see you sweat.
