Shadowing question

So I had an interview and was asked to shadow. I scheduled it for Wednesday thinking I wouldn't be able to do it on Monday or Tuesday. I actually can do it those days and am wondering if it would be okay to call and see if I could go earlier than I had scheduled or if that would be bad to do?

Yeah, give them a call and tell that your schedule opened up. Good luck!

I would call, show them you're eager!

On a side note, I applaud you for shadowing before you get into nursing school!:yeah: Not that this will be you but out of the 40 students we started out with, we only have 33 left and it's just now midterms! Makes me wonder how many we will be left with in 4th semester. The ones that I talked to or knew said in the end, it just wasn't for them or they didn't know what they were getting into.

It's a shame because they took someone's spot in the program that really wanted to be there. I, myself, waited FOUR years to get in and seeing them so easily give up or act like it was just something they wanted to "experience" kind of made me angry a little.

I think shadowing or volunteering is a great way to experience a day in the life of a nurse. Again, not saying this is you but I think a lot of people are getting into nursing SOLELY for the pay and not thinking of why nurses get paid the way they do. It's because nursing is hard work, yes you will clean and see gross things, smell unimaginable odors, witness tragic situations, work 8-12 hr shifts maybe being able to use the bathroom once if you're lucky, be made the bad guy by everyone from family members to coworkers to doctors to management, the list goes on... but when you get that patient that touches your heart and you can feel it down to your very core, and you know you helped them through what could be the hardest moment in their whole life, that's what it's all about :heartbeat

Hope you have fun shadowing! :nurse:

You can call them and say you are available sooner, but I think it probably doesn't make a difference. They asked you to choose a date, and you did. Not a real issue.
