PSLF in California

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am going to be moving from IL to CA in about 6 months. I am going to be looking for a job as an RN. I have my BSN and I have been an RN for 2 years. I have been taking advantage of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program since I have been an RN in IL. This is the program that requires 120 minimum payments on federal student loans, after which the rest of the student loan balance will be forgiven. One of the stipulations with the PSLF is that the candidate does NOT work for a labor union. I am wondering if nurses working in CA are able to qualify for the PSLF program given the fact that most nurses working in hospitals are part of a labor union. So, basically, can a nurse work for a labor union in a hospital in CA and qualify for the PSLF program. Thanks!
