Prevacid allergy?

I've never heard of anyone being allergic to Prevacid, but I think I am. I started it on Thursday to control nocturnal GERD, and since this morning my face has been red, itchy, and the skin feels tight. I think I'm going to leave a message for my doc to swing through the ER tomorrow on his rounds and ask him for something else. It's the only thing I can think of that's causing this.

I've had several patients who are allergic to Prevacid. I hope you've stopped taking it while you wait to see your doc.

Oh yeah, as soon as I realized the connection I stopped. My face feels better this morning but still a little itchy.

I work in a GI Lab so I meet a lot of people on this or similar meds. I hadn't encountered anyone with an allergy until just the other day, I think it was Prilosec though. I guess it must be rare but that doesn't help you. I'm sure your doc will have some other ideas, there is so much available now for reflux. Best of luck.

I'm sorry to hear that!! But you are correct - sounds as if you may just be allergic. I have a friend who's allergic to benadryl....wouldn't that suck!!

Hope you feel better really soon. ;)

Put on Zantac in place of the Prevacid and I took Claritin for the itching. My face was so red today the doc said I looked like a beacon!!
