*BIG sigh*

Yep.. was one of those days. Have you had one recently? If not, you need one.

For my big sigh comes not from frustration, disappointment, disillusionment, or discontentment... but rather just the opposite.

Today was one of those days in which I felt so very honoured and priveleged, satisfied and gratified... to be a nurse. :nurse:

It was one of those days in which every one of my patients moved me uniquely in a special way, touched my heart.. some touching the very depths of my soul. It was palpable. Almost gave me chill bumps. *sigh*

A day of sheer and overwhelming, but quiet contentment.

I can't put my finger on the "why's".. but it seemed like each patient was more precious than the last.

And it was a day in which I felt like individually, THEY did more for ME, than I did for them. They moved me. They filled my heart with an amazing sense of privilege.

If you have never experienced a day such as this, I do hope that you too, will soon be blessed with the same. :)

What a nice post - thank you for sharing....you made me realize that I do have days where I just 'love" some of my patients and I enjoy teaching, listening - being their nurse. I don't think I ever had a day where I had ALL wonderful patients but often there are a few (and it's best when they are in a room together - they usually are great company for each other.

There are always those patient's that touch us deeply and remain in our hearts - I think it's their spirit - a genuine goodness - not sure what to call it - but I still remember some patients and wonder if they are still with us, and if they are ok.

Anyway, good for you...I had a pretty good day yesterday myself!!! (great staffing)

What an eloquent post! Yes, I have had a few experiences like that, and we tend to forget them amongst the cruddy stuff. Thanks for the reminder!

It's so refreshing to hear the good side of nursing, thanks for sharing!

The HH agency I was working for now has a full-time opening. I am soooo tempted. I don't want to give up the excellent health insurance at the hospital but am soooo very tempted.
