Hello I'mnew to this site. My interest is Nursing . I don't have the first clue on what to do or how to get in. I first loonies into nursing school about 5-6 yrs ago. I worked

in a hospital for 9 years until runways fired by an RN , that made me bitter and didn't want to peruse nursing again. However that has all changed now and I want to persue my career. I'm 35 now and I need to get the ball going. What is the first step that I need to take??? Help!! I'm listening

Appears that you were a victim of autocorrect ('loonies'? 'runways'? 'peruse'?) - hopefully, I'm making the right assumptions about the actual meaning of your post...

First step is to get admission information from all the programs that interest you so you can make a decision about which one(s) you are interested in. This information should include the overall structure of the program, examples of typical semester schedules, the required pre-requisite classes and costs of everything. Then - fill out your FAFSA to see whether you're eligible for student financial aid & start chugging through your pre-requisite courses. Most of us here on AN will advise you to your pre-requisites at a Community College, as they are relatively inexpensive and usually have open admissions.

There really aren't any shortcuts, especially if you are starting from scratch. It will take time. You're looking at at >3 years for an ADN - add at least another 12 months for a BSN if you don't run into any roadblocks. Be patient with yourself. Do you best - admission to nursing programs is very competitive so you're going to need to make very good grades in those pre-requisites.

Wishing you all the best on your nursing education journey.

Yes it was autocorrect lol I Have all my pre reqs. So I'm not starting from scratch .I have an Associates in Natural and Applied Sciences so general req and pre reqs are completed. I may have to take and organic chem depending on the school/ program. I just wanted some info just to see if I was going in the right direction. Thanks for replying.
