Nursing license

Nurses General Nursing

I will lose my nursing license in April 2016 because I do not have a conferred degree. I am currently taking biology the class I need to complete my degree. My question is do I go on leave until I complete degree considering associate degree is required in nurse practice act? Yes I have posted before so please no negative comments I am an excellent nurse and love my patients and my job. I was honest and told the board myself because I was trying to get bachelor degree and caught mistake.

Had to get high school diploma cleared up in order to register thank the good Lord who is with me I was able to register in December.

Thank You. The Lord has blessed me and made it possible.

When you do not use the "quote" button, we have NO IDEA who you are responding to!

If the Nursing Practice requires you have a nursing degree and you do not have a nursing degree you cannot legally or ethically work as a licensed nurse. It really doesn't matter whether you have a license that is unexpired license. It also does not matter who or what is at fault. I am surprised that the Board has not come down on the school with hammer on sending in documents that are obviously in error. You employer could also be in serious legal trouble.

But if you have any doubts, feel free to notify your workplace about working in violation of the Nursing Practice Act and see what their response is. Now, granted many employers turn a blind eye to certain violations of the practice act (when it eases MD loads and keeps them happy) but for issues like this, they tend to get stressed.

I still find this confusing because it appears you were admitted to college without producing a high school diploma. Then, you were allowed to take the NCLEX without actually graduating from a school of nursing. Now you are practicing on a supposedly valid license that will not be renewable after April until you complete and get credit for a biology class.

At this point, I would make sure the BON and your employer are completely up to speed on your situation. If they still allow you to carry a license and work as a nurse, then I guess you're okay and only have to worry about getting the missing credit awarded by April. If anyone, however, is not fully aware of your situation, this could mean trouble for you down the road.

THIS. Just...how does that even happen?

I might be reading this wrong, but I'm wondering if the OP has been pulling fast ones with documentation and the jig is finally up.

Yes that is correct.

I will place letter as soon as it's over in april

If the jig was up I would say screw it but I am fighting I know I am right I have been nurse 7 years respiratory therapist 10 years no need to lie.
