As a little girl when people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always told them I wanted to do something that would make a difference in people's lives. Of course back then I didn't know what opportunities were out there, but I was bound and determined to find a career where I could make a difference in people's lives. For a while I thought I wanted to be a doctor or surgeon, but the more research I did, I realized I wanted to do something that had more patient interaction. I soon fell in love with the Idea of becoming a nurse. At first it was daunting, the long hours, working weekends and holidays, but then I took a look at the big picture and realized how much of an impact I could be making on somebody's life, and decided this was the carer for me.I got my Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license from Front Range Community college April of 2013, and began working in the home health field. I worked as a home health CNA for about one year, and absolutely loved it. I wanted to work somewhere that was going to allow me to utilize my skills more and experience more of the medical field, so I started working at an assisted living facility. I worked primarily on their rehabilitation unit. I loved this unit. Not only was I helping people, but I was helping them get better, and that was extremely rewarding. About a month ago I started working at a new Memory Care facility and love it. It is probably the most difficult job I have had, but also the most rewarding. During my time working as a CNA, I was also attending MSU Denver as a full time student, and just graduated this past May with my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I have dreamed about being a nurse my entire life, and want nothing more than to make this dream come true. I might not be at the top of my class, but I am extremely passionate, and determined to work as hard as I need to to achieve my dream.

If you have dreamed of becoming a nurse your entire life, why did you earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology?

I got my Bachelor of Science in Biology because most accelerated nursing programs require that you have a degree in something other then nursing. Plus its good knowledge to have.

I might not be at the top of my class, but I am extremely passionate, and determined to work as hard as I need to to achieve my dream.

I dislike these types of essays and am so glad that I never had to write one. It's hard to imagine that people actually want to read them. I would spend all day rolling my eyes if I had to.

I would consider taking out the part about not being at the top of your class. Let them look for anything "bad" they want to know about on their own.
