New hire at nursing home question!!!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am new to the field, and I was offered a job two weeks ago, told when the orientation starts (which is 3 weeks away), and then had to submit information for a background check, and have a physical, and an agility test. My question is, if I don't hear back from the nursing home should I just assume I passed everything and show up for the orientation in 3 weeks, or should I expect a call from them either way? Anyone have experience with this?

First of all, congrats on the new job! I would follow up with your new employer about orientation at least 2 weeks prior to your start date. I ran into a similar situation recently and there was a glitch in my employer's computer system. If I hadn't followed up with them then I wouldn't have been able to start on the date they told me I'd start. We are constantly covering our butts in nursing so why not start now!
