New Grad BSN Jobs in the Los Angeles area

So I'm graduating in December (just a few months away!!) with my BSN. I'm moving to Los Angeles and need advice on places to apply for a new grad RN! I'm applying to CHLA and possibly Cedars-Sinai. But I read it's pretty tough to get on at those places so I need more options to ensure I can land a job!

Also, even though I'm graduating in Arkansas, can I take my NCLEX in California? No one at my school is very helpful when it comes to out of state questions.

Any advice or knowledge about moving to a new state or California nursing jobs is much appreciated!

Thanks for any advice!!

Congrats!

You can apply to take your NCLEX in California, or take it in Arkansas and then have it endorsed to CA. CA is not the speediest nursing board, but CHLA and Cedars-Sinai are incredible places to practice.

They are both very competitive, as is much of the CA market for new grads. But it's not impossible if you know some of the ins and outs and how to stand out as an applicant every step of the way. It's very good you have your BSN!

One tip- Cedar-Sinai (and others) has been known to open up their residency program applications on their site for only a few hours at a time- you must check it frequently.

The thing is, the new grads who understand what nurse managers are looking for are the ones who land jobs in acute care- this from my experience as a hiring nurse manager :) I just published "Your Last Nursing Class:How to Land Your First Nursing Job" to help new grads. Best wishes and good luck with your NCLEX.
