Need suggestions, please!!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Well here's the deal......I was asked to speak to a group of headstart kids about being a nurse. Its in about two weeks, they are having a community helpers day. It will be me, a doc, a cop, etc. The kids are 3-5 yo!! I just don't know what to tell to such little ones. I figure I will talk germs and show them how to wash hands.

Any suggestions yall!!

Thanks :kiss

To piggyback on the great "Germ" suggestions, there is a chemical (sorry...I don't know the name!) that glows in the dark and shows places missed after handwashing. I saw it at an infection disease in-house, and it washes off easily. They'd have a ball with that!

Also, little nick-nak items like the small (smallest!) bottle hand sanitizer for them to keep adds to the color band-aids suggestion. (Target sells the Purel kid's 6-pac for $1.29, or somewhere around that price).

Be carefull though, kids can get carried away and overuse anything! ;)

Take pictures for us to see! (if you can?)...Little minds learning...HOW CUTE!

Thanks for all the suggestion ya'll!!!

Heather Thanks, I just ordered a bottle of GloGel!!

I guess I will stick with the germ/handwashing thing. I'll get a few disposable stethoscopes from work and clean them real good so we can use those. I'm going to contact our Children's ER nurse manager about stickers and bandaids.

Thanks again for the input!! You're all great!!!!:kiss

Good idea about the pic too.....I'll take my digital and have my mom take pics (she is the class' teacher).
