My recent hospital stay....awesome nurses!!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello all,

I have yet again been in the hospital for air around my colon  I was on rounds of serious antibiotics and thank God they worked, otherwise they were going to take me into surgery for a colostomy!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smackingf ACK!!! I was so scared. This would have ruined my plans for college and everything in general. But thank goodness all is well except

for this ungodly case of hives!! OMG! My foot is so swollen I actually have my mother's cankles :chuckle.

Well, this post is not about my cankles or colon. It's about those wonderful nurses I had. They were so sweet and I never has one that was cranky, cross, or short. Everyone came in with a smile on their faces day and night and always kidded around with me about my hives....I had Octomom lips!! :hhmth: Anyway, they were doing their job and then some! They had a really busy morning and my stupid IV monitor kept going off every timed I moved! I figured out how to silence it myself and waited until it sounded like things had calmed down a little then called her and told her. She came in and told me she wished every patient knew how to do that. We had a laugh and she brought me a Sprite thanking me again. I told her no, it was I that should be thanking her and her staff. They went above and beyond for me and the least I could do was give her my gratitude and shut that beeping thing off. She gave me a big hug and told me that she really needed to hear that. We were both crying.....I'm such a sap.

The nurses aides were precious too. They came in with breakfast with a daily newspaper they "found" for me. We had a good time and they were all so sweet to come by my room and have prayer with me before my colonoscopy.

They really gave me so much encouragement.

When the quality control, exterminator, asks thousands of questions about how your stay had been guy and asked if the staff was doing their jobs...blah...blah....blah.....

I told him straight up that the nurses on that floor were second to none and they did a great job taking care of me. I loved them all for all that they were doing. I told him that if anyone in that hospital deserved raises, it would be the nurses that I had....and I would give them a 100 on the scale. ( stupid scale only goes to 5 :()

There is hope!!! There are nurses out there that are in it for their passion for it, not just a paycheck. I hope that when I get my license that I will have to opportunity to work with these wonderful people at some point. They were awesome and I'm thankful that I had such awesome nurses.

Thank all of you nurses, aides, techs...everyone who goes to work daily and make a difference in the lives of your patients. They may not always say it but there are many patients that love you for what you do. You are awesome and you are heros!:yeah::yeah::yeah:

Hugs to you all! :redbeathe

And you sound like one of those patients that we all wish we had :) I always try my best to be kind and patient with all my patients, but it's just easier with those patients who are polite and respectful. It certainly sounds like you had a wonderful staff taking care of you! I'm so glad that you have improved, and hope you don't find youself being the patient again. Hope you continue to feel better!
