Moving to Novato CA and looking for a new job

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am in the process of moving from Memphis, TN to Novato, CA. I have friends (non-nursing or healthcare) that have suggested for me to apply at two different hospitals. I have already applied to Marin General Hospital. The other suggestion is an hour away ( John Muir Hospital). I am not willing to drive an hour to go to work, especially since I usually work night shift and I also don't want to deal with that much traffic going into work. I need more suggestion as to where would be a good place to work in the Novato area. Thank you for your help.

There is Novato Community hospital in Novato and Kaiser a bit south off 101 in San Rafael. If you go north, there are three hospitals in Santa Rosa: Santa Rosa Memorial (Level II trauma), Sutter Regional and Kaiser. Otherwise, all other choices involve crossing bridges: the GG Bridge to get into SF where there are many hospitals or the San Rafael bridge to get to John Muir, Highland, Kaiser (just three examples...there are more.) . Bay area traffic can be problematic for commuters depending on the time you drive. John Muir is a Level II trauma center, but you would have to cross a bridge to get there as it is in Walnut Creek. Marin General is fairly close to Novato south on 101. No bridges to cross from Novato to Marin General.

Oops. Forgot Petaluma Hospital in Petaluma, which is north of Novato but south of Santa Rosa.

Is Novato Community a small hospital ? Thank you for your help.

I just googled it. It said 32 med-surg and eight critical care beds. It is run by Sutter, one of the biggest healthcare corporations in CA. Depending on your needs and experience, it might work for you since it is in Novato.
