Military Wife looking to become an RN

I desperately would like to make a career change and become an RN. I have ever since my son was born with end stage renal failure ten years ago. However, my husband has a unique position in the military where we are in remote locations and are never close to a nursing school. This has prevented me from ever being able to start a program. I know, I know. There are not any 100% online programs. Nor would I want there to be. I recognize the importance of clinicals. I do know of one hybrid/distance program which preforms clinicians once a month. I would need to fly to that location if I were to do their program. That would be ideal, but I am concerned about their accreditation. The school is only accredited by the state. Does anyone know of a hybrid RN program which meets one week out of the month for clinicians?

Is it possible for you to move and attend nursing school while you husband remains in the remote location?

There are probably very few schools offering that type of program that I would ever consider attending. I attended nursing school while hubby was active duty by completing all prerequisites through community colleges, applying for a BSN program back in my hometown, and attending those last two years (hubby was deployed for a good portion of that time) while living with my parents. When he wasn't deployed, we would spend a weekend together about once a month and I would spend all holidays, breaks, and summers with him. Worked out quite nicely.

I have thought about that, but my kids have been away from their dad so much, its hard to think about taking them away even more. But I might have too. Thanks for commenting.

Ill think about that. Thank you for responding.
