MICU/CCU Nurse MGR too busy to call back?

Had a GREAT interview on Friday with the nurse MGR in MICU [NOT for nursing - as a unit clerk, so I can go to school + work]. She was hiring for 2 positions and she had a total of 3 interviews. She praised me on my resume and personality, not to mention the fact that I got a great recommendation from a tenured SICU nurse at the same hospital. She said unless the other 2 interviewee's were as "awesome" as I, she has no problem offering me the job. She asked me how much notice I needed to give my current employer and I advised her 2 weeks. She said she would call me on Monday 7/6 and at that time I could put in my 2 weeks.

It is now Tues. 7/7 @ 9:20A. I called her yesterday @ 1:30P and left her a VM.

Do you guys think that she just got extremely busy and didn't call back? Or maybe she had the day off? I know that it can get pretty crazy in the MICU.

any help will be appreciated :)

It was the first day back after a holiday weekend. She probably came back to many messages, including yours. Be patient and wait for her to return your call this week.

When I was hired as a NA, (I also wanted to work during school), I was interviewed and waited a month to get the official hire package. The day I was told that I would be contacted came and went; I left one message and waited. Much goes on that a new hire may not see: people leaving the floor, (resigning or being terminated), managers working out schedules and hours, waiting for the go-ahead from HR or for a budget to be approved to make that new hire official, so on.

I found out later that the reason why I was not hired on and given orientation dates as told was because there wasn't a spot for me yet on the schedule, as they are done two weeks in advance for the coming month.

Patience. ;)

Best,

Southern
