LVN in med surg, HELP!

Hello to all!

I've only been a LVN for 3 years now.. I have not been able to find a full-time job. Im doing temp work with registry and per diem

LVN in research.. Every time Im assigned to med surg I have butterflies and pray everything goes ok! I have no clue where to start

Because I was never oriented on a med surg floor.. Are there any med surg nurses out there that can help me? I am very careful

when Im working in med surg... especially administer meds.... I can't go back to being a CNA, it doesn't pay the bills! Can someone

give me helpfuls tips on What to do in med surg? checking round, labs, meds, charts, documentation etc?

First, take a deep breath and relax. Med-Surg is challenging but VERY managable once you have some experience under your belt. When you are hired for the unit, they will give you a preceptor to show you the best ways to get things done and the most efficient way they have found to manage the time. Once you are a little more familiar with the job and the environment, ask some of the other nurses on that floor for suggestions and advise. Keep your eyes and ears open to learn from the example of the rest of the staff about the right [and wrong] way to do things. Personally, I love Med-Surg nursing and I hope you will too!
