John Muir New Grad training program - huh?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

As instructed by the nurse recruiter, I created a job agent for John Muir that was supposed to alert me in mid March when the new grad training program was to begin accepting apps - it is now nearly May and still nothing! Does anyone on the board know if the new grad training program at John Muir (either campus) has been postponed or shelved? Just curious, as every time I visit allnurses.com the first thing I see is the John Muir banner at the top of the page, still advertising!

Thanks!

From reading their website while doing my own research, it appears that they have significantly reduced the breadth of new-grad training opportunities. When I last checked they had eliminated all but ER and OR. I was bummed b/c when I looked at the end of '08 they had a great program with many specialties available. I was hoping to work there after nursing school...

I too haven't seen anything posted by John Muir. I created a Job Search Agent for the New Grad program, but I still haven't received anything. I tried calling their Job Hotline too, but gave up because I couldn't figure how to get out of their automated voice part and get a real human being on the phone.

I called the Walnut Creek number and they gave me the # 925-947-5215 for Human Resources. Since nothing turns up on their website, I am assuming that the new grad program has been postponed or something.

I spoke to the recruiter at JMMC recently and I was told they are not accepting any external applicants for the upcoming new grad program. I sounds like they only have a couple of spots that may go to current employees or alternates selected from the last pool of February applicants. Too bad- that seems to be the case everywhere.

John Muir's August 2009 new grad program is posted now, but it is only available to internal applicants and from what I have heard no one internally may get a position either. This is at the Walnut Creek campus, last I heard of the Concord Campus is they were probably not going to even have a new grad program in the summer. Good Luck Everyone!!!

I heard they are not accepting outside applicants for the New Grad program. Just internal applicants. They have really pared down how many new grads they take! When I went through the program 3-4 years ago they had like 35 of us, but just last year they only took like a dozen.

Hi DebRN, do you happen to know what is needed to apply to the new grad programs at john muir...like how many letters of rec did they ask for? did they need specifically a certain amount of letters from certain individuals (i.e. 2 letters of rec re: academics)? were their essays on the application? anything else? there isn't an application open right now that i can see to start filling out in preparation for the next new grad period. thanks so much for your help!!

The best bet to get the right and accurate New Grad program availability is to contact their Human Resources Recruiter, usually posted on their websites.

That way, you can document your conversation and do follow-up directly with them and building rapport that may even help you in the long run.
