I had a patient one year ago. He was almost 400 lbs, vent-dependant, with central lines, peg tubes, unable to move one arm, a sacral wound stage IV, incontinent, a mess!
anyways, I had him many times!! I remember myself almost crying because he was so heavy, it use to take 4 people just to turn him and pull him up.
After months of working with him, he was off the vent, eating, and walking! well, today HE CAME TO VISIT! yep, talking, making jokes, walking and looking 200 pounds lighter! he hugged me and told me that I was his favourite nurse. I was almost in tears. Gosh I thought.. its all worth it, the stress, the pain, the frustration.. I realized that maybe down the road i would forget his name, his face, but I felt that he would never forget me and that I help to change his life forever!!!!!!!
Awwwww....how sweet! ((((((Pamelita)))))) :balloons: You deserve the balloons for being such a wonderful nurse. I could read the passion in your message, so it's obvious to me what a great nurse you are. :kiss
It's patients like him that keep us nurses in the business of nursing.
