If you had the opportunity to plan a health fair, what would you do???

  1. Hey AN family. I have come in contact with the person in charge of planning the hospital health fair that they have every year. It is still fairly new and by new I mean two years old. I asked if I can assist in the planning for the next one and I was given a big fat "yes". I am super excited, but need help. This is what I am thinking so far:

1- at least two bouncy houses for the kids
2- the police department was involved last year and had a rock climbing wall and a horse for the kids to take rides on so definitely bring that back
3-maybe get the nutrition department involved with healthy snacks and quick lessons on diet for people with hypertension, diabetes, etc.
4-an activity for adults to compete in to get them moving

Any ideas? It's a community health fair so let me know what you've had in your fairs or anything that you wished you did. Thanks!

What health services are you offering? Flu shot van? Mammo van? Cholesterol screenings?

You can often get local nursing schools to send their students over for these. They can do B/P checks, glucose checks, cholesterol checks, etc.

I've been a part of quite a few health fairs. The most crowded booths had free pens.

Lol... I agree about the free pens. Most importantly, I want it to be interactive and lively. Like people going home looking forward to next year's fair. Learn about your health while having a good time. I thought about having a theme this year and change the theme every year. Then again, the community we serve have more than one huge comorbidity.
