I'm thinking of moving to Decatur...could 17.76 be what I'm facing?

    I make 28/hour plus:
    .50 weekend
    .80 charge

    3 days (12, 14,14)
25 days paid time off + 6 paid holidays

my health insurance (me, wife, 2 kids) costs 150/month.

    urgent care (walk-in/ambulatory care clinic)

I can't live on 17.76 AND paying that much for health care.

In Canada, they are comparable to RN wages so I've been told.

DPLear, I am a student nurse.
Before entering school I managed a HRl department at Kaiser.

I had the opportunity do taxes on the side for nurses who worked at the state hospital. Their hourly rates were around $28 hr (Staff Nurse), and because of all the hours they put in, some of the w-2's had $90 - 105,000 in earnings on them.
I couln't believe it either, until I saw it with my own eyes.

I am in Atlanta, and I have seen the norm as $18.71 - $19.75 for graduate nurses.

I posted my salary info info a couple of years ago when I still lived on Long Island. I moved to Florida 18 months ago and the salaries and benefits down here are sure a lot less attractive!

RN 3 years experience-previously LPN for about 17 years
Currently work in LTC, MDS Coordinator
Salary $53000.00/year (comes out to about 25/hr)
    401K w/ partial company match
13 days vacation, 4 sick days paid out if you don't use them, some personal days (not even sure how many)
Mon-Fri days, no weekends or holidays, no on-call.
Long term disability ins, tuition reimbursement (I don't take the health insurance)

I know of other MDS Coordinators in the county I work who are making more than this, but not a whole lot more. I plan to ask for more at my next review. Florida nurses could get more if they would hold out for it. The shortage here is unbelievable!

Our floor LPNs make 18/hr, RNs 21/hr. Extra for off shifts and weekends. 23/hr for per diem RN. Not bad for Florida, but compared to NY, wow, what a shock to the system!!
