Help: Interview with the director of nursing.

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello all. I am about to go into my 3rd interview for a position at a big hosp in NYC. I already interviewed with HR and the nurse manager of the department. I was asked all the many behavioral questions along with some clinical knowledge and judgement questions.

I was expecting an offer or a no thank you but now I am interviewing with the director of nursing for the dept. At this point I am not sure what to expect. What else could they want to know?

Any help is appreciated.

First of remember they are like you and put their scrubs on the same way you do. I think you know how to act Don't get nervous just answer the questions she or he gives you. Interview her as well. Ask her questions sound interested. Remember you have to fit in the hospital as much as they have to fit in to you. As far as the question's it's any ones guess Just be upfront and honest and if you don't know something Tell Them YOU DON'T KNOW. She just might want to meet you before the hire as well just be ready for anything. Good Luck tell us how you do... Anthony

They probably interview everyone that way. Hopefully it won't be as intense as the nurse manager one. Good luck.

This sounds like their normal hiring process. When I applied for my current position, I couldn't believe the interview process - I interviewed with HR, then the manager, then one of the nurses, then two doctors, etc. It was intense. Now that I've been in my current position for almost 3 years, I am now on the other end (I interview potential hires). My suggestion is to be calm, confident and honest in your behavior/questions/answers. If you do this, you will do well. And remember, they wouldn't be asking you to come back to meet with the Director of Nursing if they didn't like you in the first 2 interviews!! :)

Best of luck to you!

Amanda

I should add - it's probably the Director of Nursing who will offer the position, so I'll give you an early "Congratulations!" Let me know how it goes.
