HELP! I have permanent restrictions and want to become a LMT!

Hello everyone. I want to say that I love this sight so far. It's wonderful.

I am a current RN in OHio, have an active license but with "permanent restrictions"....if you know what that means, you know what that means. If not, it means that almost 5 years ago, I sought treatment for chemical dependancy. I made a really stupid decision 2 years prior to being a nurse and called in a script for myself. It caught up to me in 2010, 6 months after being a RN. I changed my life but that is when the real nightmare began (with the OBON)...I have jumped through more hoops than I care to even talk about to keep my license. I still get randomly drug screened and will until December 2016. I am one of the lucky one's because not only did I change my life but I actually got hired as a nurse. For that, I am thankful.

I want to pursue a career in massage therapy. They are licensed through the Ohio Medical Board. I am wondering if anyone, by chance, has any experience with something like this.

I am afraid they will not grant my licensure after I finish school. This, is a possibility I understand. I have no convictions.

THanks in advance. :)

Why are your restrictions permanent? I thought once you completed a program they took the restrictions off? You might want to ask the mods to move this to the recovery forum because you'll get a better response.

You need to pose this exact question to the Ohio Medical Board. Only the state agency who administers the licenses is in a position to provide accurate information on this. It is better to find out now about any licensure issues before going through the training program and possibly not having a license granted.
