Help, please! My partners and I are researching the role of nurses in responding to the needs of those individuals on public assistance. There is a lot of broad, general information but nothing specific from any sources. What experiences have you encountered in your careers, or do you have any suggestions for places to find pertinent info?

My hunch is that we haven't fully understood the original poster's intent. Suspect Jackie's asking about something else, but I'll wait for her further clarification.

When I went to rehab I had new experience. I am required to take report on patient and I have to ask about insurance clearances as part of the report. Makes me very uncomfortable.

Getting back to Why you need to know this info.. In LTC as far as how long a resident is skilled or what type of equiptment can be ordered or what ambulance to use for residents depends on the payor source...Now the quality of care that the nurses give and payor source has absolutly no relationship.
