The agency I worked for for a few years all the sudden quit scheduling me.

I call in my availablility and they say, "Okay," but they never schedule me

and this has gone on for months. They have never called me into the office to talk to them

and I was never written up with them.

Some of my past clients with them had only good things to say about my work.

How many places are there who don't send you a letter or call you in

if there is a problem with your performance?

Maybe it has something to do with the economic down turn.

This is common practice, done for negative reasons as well as neutral reasons. If there is no problem with your job performance and the reason there are no calls is that there is a general downturn in scheduling, you deserve an explanation. The cold shoulder can always be interpreted as them losing interest in you as an employee. Do not wait to go to the unemployment office. Sometimes that act will cause the agency to remember you exist. Sometimes it will cause them to get really angry and they will retaliate by lying to the unemployment office to avoid paying. They will tell them that you quit, when in fact, you have been sitting by the phone waiting for them to call. Until you find work with another employer, keep calling them often enough to let them know you are alive. Sometimes frequent calls will cause them to provide you work in order to get you off their phone line.

That sounds very unprofessional of them. At the very least, they could offer some explanation, especially if you've been with them for a long time. I would call, ask to speak to the scheduler directly, and put it out there. "You guys haven't called me in quite a while. Is there some problem that you're not telling me about?" - something along those lines. They owe you an explanation if they have a problem with you or something you've done. Or if they just don't have any skilled nursing cases for you at the moment. That's business. That is how a professional agency should do it.
